Gummy Smile

What is it?

A gummy smile is when an excessive amount of gum tissue is exposed above the upper teeth when smiling.

Why does it happen?

There are several factors that can cause a gummy smile, from an overactive muscle that lifts the upper lip higher than desired, to a short upper live, excessive gum tissue, or simply smaller teeth. There are treatments to hand that can relax the upper lip muscles, or adjust gum and teeth proportions to create a more balanced, harmonious smile that you won’t be afraid to flash.
