Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a broad-spectrum, light-based treatment that delivers multiple wavelengths of light to target various surface level skin concerns. IPL disperses light at multiple depths, making it highly effective for treating superficial skin conditions rather than deeper structures such as hair follicles, which are better targeted using the single, focused wavelength of a laser treatment.
Like other heat-based treatments, IPL triggers a controlled healing response by selectively heating pigment (melanin) and haemoglobin (red blood cells) in the skin. Breaking down pigmentation, reducing vascular lesions, and stimulating collagen production, IPL enables brighter, more even-toned, rejuvenated skin.
IPL is ideal for treating
- Pigmentation (sunspots, freckles, age spots, melasma): target excess melanin to fade discoloration
- Rosacea & redness: reduce visible capillaries and diffuse facial flushing
- Small broken vessels (telangiectasia, spider veins): coagulate tiny blood vessels, making them fade over time
- Facial flushing: improve overall skin tone and reduce persistent redness
- Skin rejuvenation: boost collagen production, refine texture and improve radiance
- Acne & acne scarring: target p.acnes bacteria, reduce inflammation, and minimize post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)**
- Poikiloderma of Civatte: reduce pigmentation and redness on the neck and chest
IPL is a powerful non-invasive treatment which is incredibly effective for surface layer concerns. However due to the limitations of its depth penetration it does not reach the deeper layers of the dermis which need to be targeted for permanent hair removal or deep vascular lesions.
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) therapy is a gentle yet powerful skin treatment designed to brighten, even out, and refresh your complexion. Targeting pigmentation, redness, and sun damage, helping to fade sunspots, reduce rosacea, and minimize fine blood vessels, IPL can help you achieve a clearer, more youthful look without penetrating deep into the layers of the skin.
Perfect for tackling flushing, age spots and uneven skin tone, it also stimulates collagen production for a naturally rejuvenated glow, and because it reduces inflammation and targets acne-causing bacteria, it’s also a fantastic option for anyone suffering from acne-prone skin. A quick and comfortable treatment with minimal downtime, IPL is an ideal solution for anyone who wants to restore radiance and clarity to skin, whether that’s on the face, neck, chest or hands.
